The heirloom finish creates an antiqued appearance using stains, glazing and distressing. Before the finish is applied, the kitchen cabinets are subjected to a distressing technique to give it a timeworn look. Sanding, denting and chiseling the edges and corners give the wooden cabinets imperfections. Glaze is then applied to accentuate the details of the door. To create a more rustic and aged appearance, more imperfections may be added.
