Types of cabinet hardware to use depending on style. Despite its size, cabinet pulls and handles contribute a big impact to the overall look of your kitchen cabinetry. When planning the design of your kitchen, details and accessories ae equally important. These hardware are often considered to be the “jewelry of the kitchen” because they can greatly enhance the look of your cabinets.
Some designs focus on the kitchen island and paint it differently than the rest of the kitchen. However, other designs choose accent areas for a different color.
Pine – Pine is a type of softwood that ad a pale yellow color. It is the only species of soft wood that is used for kitchen cabinetry. Unlike hardwoods, pine easily dents but it is often pressure treated to reinforce its strength and quality. Common species of pine used for kitchen cabinetry are Eastern white pine and Western white pine. Pine can be stained to achieve a different color and its unique appearance includes knots. Pine kitchen cabinets are often used for settings which have a traditional character and country flair.
Standard base cabinets measure 34.5″ H and 36″ H from the floor to the top of the countertop. The toe kick portion of the cabinet is 4.5″ H. Standard door height is 24″ H. The top-drawer height is 6″ H (34.5″ H total). Three-drawer base cabinets have 6″ H top drawer. Bottom/middle drawer styles are 12″ H with a 4.5″ H toe kick.
