Hickory – Hickory has a similar graining pattern to oak, but its color is lighter. This type of wood is characterized by a natural creamy, pale yellow color. Although it can be stained, hickory is better treated with a clear stain or natural varnish in order to highlight its distinct blond tones. When it comes to strength, hickory is comparable to oak.
