Natural materials such as wood are the primary material for French style kitchen cabinets. To create a rustic character, these woods are often left in their natural, unfinished state, showcasing their distinct graining patterns. In some cases, the distressed, antique or weathered finish is also employed to create a more timeown, old word vibe. Rich, warm tones and deep colors are also more popularly used compared to light colors. If the cabinets are painted, they are typically finished in earth tones and cream or beige. Complementing color schemes for French country kitchen cabinets include warm tones like shades of brown, deep reds and mustard.
Using olive green on your kitchen cabinets also helps complement warm brown/sienna-toned furniture pieces used on your space. This color has enough yellow/beige undertones so there’s no bold contrasts happening between the green and the warmer brown colors. This traditional kitchen design showcases a painted green island with white shaker style main cabinets and a black soapstone countertop. A beautiful hardwood floor with inlay as well as solid wood door and wood molding around the windows gives this space a craftsman appeal.
