This beautiful beach cottage-style kitchen features simple cream-colored raised panel cabinets with petite silver handles and classic white subway tile backsplash. The home’s open plan layout is such that the L-shaped kitchen’s double-level bar faces out into the large picture windows in the living area and overlooks the beautiful ocean views. The ocean view is mirrored in the pale blue used for the walls, which give the kitchen a cozy, cottage feel. Other elements contributing to the style are the white travertine kitchen tiles with matching black tile border around the kitchen island. Standing out from the light-colored kitchen are the grey granite used for the countertops.
Think of the items you use the most, and organize them in a structured way, placing them closer to the reach of your fingertips.
Dark granite countertops are really popular for kitchens, both contemporary and classic. They are adored as stains and minor damages are not as visible on its dark surface compared to lighter-colored countertops. In this example, black granite was used on all countertop surfaces. Because the wooden floors were also tinted in ebony, the antique white kitchen with beadboard cabinets helps balance-out the dark colors and gives the kitchen a brighter glow.
The same rule applies for color – you can never miss with two color-schemes and neutral shades, depending on what you prefer. Symmetry is more than visible in the kitchen, so try to keep shelving elements as similar as possible. Once you’ve decided to take doors off and hang shelves instead, choose a dark color that contrasts most of your dishes to make them stand out.
