High quality American wood are the primary material used for Shaker style kitchen cabinets. Examples of which are cherry, hickory, quarter sawn oak and cherry. All of which are notable for their resilience and durability. These type of kitchen cabinets are often left in their natural finish, but can also be painted or stained. Staining is used to enhance the richness of the wood while paints are used to create a more light and airy feel. White, beige and gray paint are some best options if you want to create a more update look using Shaker style kitchen cabinets.
Remove your doors and drawers, then clean them with a degreasing agent and sandpaper. From there, apply a primer and several top coats. You could also pay a professional about $50 per door to do the same.
